My submission for the Acerola Jam 0.

Join the protagonist on an adventure through a number of different dreamy worlds, taking a regular school day into a weird mix of adventure, exploration and weirdness. However, beware the dream world, as those who fail to return to the real world before the new day starts might just stay there...

Reflection

Thanks for checking out the game. This is my first game jam project, and my first finished project, so I'm pretty proud of what I was able to get out. It might not be the best looking, and it almost certainly won't win, but it's my little project, and I'm happy I was able to make it, and happy to have be part of the jam.

My biggest inspirations for this jam were the Persona series (particularly Persona 1's simplistic graphics) and LSD: Dream Emulator (where the dream idea came from). I also aimed to capture the feel of old RPG Maker games, in particular Yume Nikki, which I've never played despite meaning to for a while (my backlog of games to be played is immense, and everyday a new one is added).

The main goal of the game was to create a variety of worlds that could be explored, each evoking a sense of exploration and mystery, and I hope I've been able to achieve that with this game. I kept gameplay simple, and in essence it really is just a glorified 2D walking simulator, but that's OK, because it means I didn't overscope this thing completely and I got something finished :).

The game has 2 endings, although I didn't have time to make anything too crazy. You'll work out which is the good end and which is the bad end by playing it I don't want to spoil it :).

I really liked the music, very well done good, but i was unable to use the escape key to progress, i think on the web it's force-bound to minimize window, and isn't allowed to do anything else.

The escape key just closes the game, I just thought it was more fitting with the game to put it that way. If you’re seeing that prompt it means you finished the game :).

oh I'm dumb I'll have another go at it then

I escaped the dream! is the other ending where you run out of time?

Yes, running out of time will give you a ‘bad ending’. Good work escaping the dream and finishing the game.

Thank you for uploading your game ! It's pretty good for a first finished product especially on a game jam. The self awareness plays into the atmosphere making me feel like I'm having a lobotomized dream. Good job !
